Apart from China Your Way's summer language immersion sessions, CYW invites students without a background in Chinese language to experience China through our Spring Break Tour. The 10-day tour -- entirely in English -- includes famous historical and cultural sights in Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai. This is not a language program!Instead of a tour guide, China Your Way relies upon the cultural and historical intelligence of teachers to lead tours throughout all of our program’s destinations. CYW feels that unlike tour guides, teachers know their audience a bit more intimately and can therefore conduct meaningful, enriching tours to which high school students can feel connected. As teachers, they also understand the merits of integrating differentiated instruction, both inside and outside the classroom. Note that our student to teacher ratio never exceeds 15:1.
Apart from historical tourism, China Your Way also encourages our scholars to sample as much Chinese food as possible. Like any Chinese family, our Spring Break class eats together, sharing dishes that represent the complex and diverse eating customs of the many provinces of China. The aim of CYW’s Spring Break Tour is to leave each of our scholars “hungry,” both literally and figuratively, for more time in China. See some of the highlights of the Spring Break Tour below. For a complete breakdown of daily activities please see the Spring Break Itinerary.

Spring 2013 dates: March 23 - March 30Spring 2013 Registration Deadline: January 31, 2013
Prior to Joining Our Spring Break Tour
After completing the first step of registration (see application process here), CYW Spring Break scholars complete our general interest form, which informs CYW’s teachers, as well as the other scholars in your group, of your interests in China. As our teachers design tours of the predetermined travel destinations, they consider all of our scholars' collective interests in China. CYW will mail scholars the general interest form after we have received and processed their registration materials.

Written Assignments
All spring break scholars are encouraged to complete 3 written assignments while studying abroad with China Your Way: one research essay and two short, creative assignments. Scholars' home institution teachers may accept these assignments for extra credit or independent study credit. We encourage our scholars to consult with their home institution’s teacher beforehand to find out about credit acceptance. China Your Way will gladly elaborate on its teaching philosophies and practices for any interested or concerned teacher at a home institution. If participating independently from any school, these assignments are optional.
